


Basil (Sweet)
Medicinal Properties & Primary Benefits:
- Analgesic, Anti (bacterial, catarrhal, depressants, infectious, inflammatory, microbial,
oxidant, spasmodic {powerful}, viral), Carminative - Decongestant (veins, arteries of the lungs, prostate), Diuretic
- Disinfectant (urinary/ pulmonary). Diaphoretic, Digestive
- Emmenagogue (Stimulates menstrual flow), Expectorant, Energizing
- Febrifuge (Fever reducer), Neuroprotective, Restorative, Stomachic
- Stimulant (nerves, adrenal cortex), Tonic, Uplifting
Applications:
Aromatically: Use 3-4 drops in the glass diffuser of your own choosing; increases clarity of
thought.
Internally: Generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for human consumption by the FDA
(21CFR182.20). Dilute one drop of oil in 1 tsp. honey or in 4 oz. of beverage (e.g. soy/rice milk)
that is in a glass container.
Topically: Apply 1-2 drops to desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin
sensitivity. See additional safety precautions below.
